How to Clean Floors at Your Market Basket Store

FIRST, SWEEP THE STORE.

WHILE YOU ARE SWEEPING, HERE’S HOW TO SPOT CLEAN DIRT, WHEEL MARKS, SCUFFS AND PALLET MARKS
  1. For spot cleaning, mix 1 small scoops of Simix Multi-Surface Cleaner with 32 ounces of water in a trigger spray bottle.
  2. Carry the bottle while you dust mop.
  3. Spray any dirty areas and let the cleaner soak in.
  4. For scuffs, wheel marks and pallet marks, spray cleaner and then scrub out those marks with a non-scratch scrubbing pad.
  5. To remove an acid or vinegar stain, spray the stain with the water/Simix mixture. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Scrub until the color is gone.
  6. As you sweep the store, scrape off stickers and gum.

HOW TO CLEAN NIGHTLY WITH AUTOSCRUBBER AND MOP

Autoscrubber:
  1. Check posted cleaning schedule to see how often to use Simix Cleaner. Some days, you will just be using hot water.
  2. If it’s winter or the floors are extra dirty, mix 1/2 large scoop of Simix Cleaner in 16-20 gallons of hot water in autoscrubber tank. Hotter water will bring you a better result.
  3. If it’s summer or the floors are not that dirty, mix 4 small scoops of Simix Cleaner in 16-20 gallons of hot water in autoscrubber tank. Hotter water will bring you a better result.
  4. Use regular red pads for daily cleaning.
  5. Put the water at maximum with high pressure on pads, and autoscrub at medium  speed.
  6. In dirty, high-traffic areas like front cart section, scrub with gate up on first pass, allowing water to dwell for a couple minutes. Come back a few minutes later to scrub and pick up with gate down.
  7. After completing half the store, flip the red pads and finish the store.
  8. Drain and rinse solution tank at the end of the night.

Detail mop the hard to scrub areas and edges:
  1. Use hot water in your mop bucket.
  2. Mop the floors where the autoscrubber can’t get to.
  3. Do not let water puddle. Make sure you wring out mop often.
  4. Wipe up the sides and any residual water.
  5. When water turns dark, pour out water and refill. You cannot clean the whole store with one bucket.

HOW TO SCRUB AND BUFF

  1. First, dust mop and spot clean as you always do.
  2. Next, scrub with autoscrubber as you always do.
  3. Then, it’s time to buff. You won’t buff the whole store in one night. Follow the buffing schedule to figure out which area to do.
  4. Use 800 diamond grit pads on burnisher. Always put pads color side down.
  5. Go over each section of the floor at least twice, up and back. Walk at medium speed. It’s not a race.
  6. After buffing is complete, rinse pad with warm water and hang to dry.
